Vol. 71 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sterling Securities in State Control.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what amount of sterling securities are held on account of various funds under the control of State Departments.

The total nominal value of the sterling securities held by Departmental funds under the control of the Minister for Finance amounted, at the 31st March, 1938, to £14,128,654. This figure does not include a sum of £257,932 nominal of 4½ per cent. Land Bonds (British Government guaranteed series) although these Bonds are expressed to be repayable in sterling, because Land Bonds are an Irish security. No recent figures are available regarding the amount of sterling securities on the funds and accounts of other Departments of State.
