Vol. 83 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trade Loans Acts—Irrecoverable Moneys.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the amount lost to the Exchequer for each year of the six years' period ended 31st March, 1941, arising out of moneys irrecoverable from persons or firms who received advances under the Trade Loans Acts, and in each such year what relation per cent. did these bad debts bear to the total sum advanced in the year.

No persons or firms received advances under the Trade Loans Guarantee Acts in the years referred to by the Deputy. I presume, however, that the Deputy seeks information as to the sums issued out of the Central Fund and the total sums which have been paid into the Exchequer in repayment of sums so issued. The information has already been furnished to the House during the month of April in each year in accordance with Section 6 of the Act of 1924 and Section 11 (2) of the Act of 1939. The latest account, which is up to 31st March, 1941, was laid on the Table of the Dáil on the 23rd April, 1941, and is available in the official library.

Does that cover the whole period set out in my question, up to 31st March, 1941?
