Vol. 83 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages in Furniture Trade.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the reasons why six storemen and one packer employed in the furniture stores at Coleraine House, Dublin, have not been granted the increase of wages of 4/- per week which was granted to some storemen elsewhere in May, 1940, and to others in January, 1941.

I am not aware that an increase of 4/- per week was, as suggested by the Deputy, granted to storemen in the furniture trade in May, 1940, or in January, 1941. I am advised, however, that an increase of 2/6 per week was granted on the 17th January, 1941, to employees engaged at furniture removal work; and an increase of that amount in the wages of the packer and storemen employed at Coleraine House has been authorised as from that date.
