Vol. 85 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Turf Area.

asked the Minister for Finance if in view of the fact that there are 100,000 tons of turf in Kerry over and above the requirements of the county he will declare the rural districts of Kanturk, Millstreet and Mallow scheduled areas.

The question of the nature of the border line between turf and non-turf areas is continually under review and all relevant considerations are taken into account.

Is it not a fact that Millstreet is already one of the scheduled areas in the County Cork, and that, consequently, Cork City will not be able to get any turf from it at all?

The Deputy's deductions may not be correct. His statement in relation to Millstreet is.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary say, if he puts Kanturk, Millstreet and Mallow into scheduled areas, where the people of Cork City will get turf?

I may certainly not say that on this question.
