Vol. 89 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bog Roads in Kerry.

asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the impassable nature of roads leading to some bogs along the Kerry side of the Cork-Kerry boundary where turf cut last season, and in some cases the previous season, is still in the bogs due to the condition of these roads; and if he will give an assurance that these roads will be repaired before winter sets in, with a view to encouraging the further cutting of turf this year and to enable tenants to remove the turf now stacked and saved.

I presume that one of the cases referred to is that in which the Deputy recently made representations regarding the proposed construction of a road into a bog in the townland of Clydaghroe, County Kerry. This proposal is at present being reinvestigated by the Special Employment Schemes Office and the Deputy will be informed of the position in due course.

If the Deputy will supply me with particulars of any other cases which he may have in mind I will have inquiries made and let him know the position.
