Vol. 91 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Additional Land for Agricultural Labourers.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is prepared, in view of the serious shortage of food, to instruct the commissioner administering the affairs of the Dublin County Council to provide agricultural labourers in the County Dublin with an additional half-acre of land for the purpose of tillage in each area in which suitable land is available for the purpose.

The commissioner has, during the present and previous seasons, provided sufficient land to meet the full demands of agricultural labourers applying for allotments. During the present season 1,099 allotments were provided, but 937 only were utilised. He has recently asked the parish councils to furnish him with estimates of the allotments required in their areas for the coming season so that he can take such action as may be necessary to meet the position.
