Vol. 91 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Extension of Food Voucher Scheme.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is prepared to take the necessary steps to extend the food voucher scheme so as to include old age pensioners and widows entitled to pensions residing in County Dublin; and whether, in this regard, he will take into account the fact that conditions, so far as rents and food prices are concerned, do not differ materially between the City of Dublin and the small towns in County Dublin.

It is not at present proposed to extend the scope of the food voucher scheme.

Will the Minister agree that some of these people who are in receipt of pensions in County Dublin, and many other rural areas, are in worse circumstances even than some people resident in urban areas?

That is a separate question.
