Vol. 96 No. 9

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take the business as on the Order Paper in the following order:—Items Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 1 and 8. Private Deputies' Business will be taken at 7.30 p.m.

When will No. 10 be circulated?

Mr. Boland

I cannot say yet.

Has it not been on the Order Paper for some weeks?

Mr. Boland

It has been.

Motion No. 10 is a very important motion and one that deserves earnest consideration. I think Private Members' time should be given in the near future for its consideration—that is, before the nominations for the position of President take place—so that the people will know the position we are in. I wonder would it be possible that the Government would agree to give time for the discussion of this motion before we rise for the Easter, in view of the urgency of the matter?

It is not proposed to take it out of its order.

In view of the urgency of the matter, would you not think it necessary to consider it before the nominations?

The Deputy might have thought of that earlier.

That is a matter for the Deputy, not for me.

If the proposers of the motion agree that it could be taken out of its order, would the Minister not accept that?

There are Standing Orders, and this is not a county council.

The Tánaiste has stated that it will not be taken out of its order.

Perhaps it would not suit that it should be taken out.

If the Deputy knew his business better, he would have put it down in time.

It is only when it loomed on the horizon that I considered it, like a good many others.
