Vol. 99 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages of Creamery Employees.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether, having regard to the importance of the dairying industry, he is prepared to sanction a general increase in the wages of creamery employees.

In accordance with the provisions of the Emergency Powers (No. 260) Order, 1943, the wages of creamery workers are governed in the same way as those of other classes of workers throughout the country. The employees of any creamery are at liberty to make an application for a bonus Order which will enable them to be paid additional bonuses up to the maximum amount which can, at present, be sanctioned, in accordance with the terms of Emergency Powers (No. 260) Order. Such applications may also be made on behalf of the employees of more than one creamery in a specified district.
