asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that Miss Marian Cassidy of Bogtaduff, Ballaghaderreen, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment at Ballaghaderreen District Court in November last on a charge of voting while under the statutory age, and that her mother, Mrs. Catherine Cassidy, received a similar sentence for inducing her to vote, and if he will state whether these sentences have been served; and, if not, the reasons why they have not been served.

The sentences imposed in these cases were remitted on the suggestion of the justice concerned. I am advised, moreover, that the orders were bad, and incapable of being enforced inasmuch as they imposed penalties not authorised by the statute.
