Vol. 101 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Spare Parts for Reapers and Binders.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that farmers are finding it impossible to obtain replacements for parts of reapers and binders broken last year; and if he will state whether he has taken steps to ensure that such spare parts will be available in good time to enable these machines to be put in working order for the coming harvest.

I cannot agree that the position is as suggested by the Deputy. All reasonable steps have been taken to ensure that adequate stocks of spare parts are available, and I see no justification for the view that there will be any scarcity of parts for the principal types of reapers and binders in use. If the Deputy will give me particulars of specific instances I shall have inquiries made. Much trouble may be avoided if farmers overhaul their machines now and place orders at once for spare parts.
