Vol. 101 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballybay Sewerage System.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has received representations as to the condition of the sewerage system at Ballybay, County Monaghan; whether he is aware that it has not been functioning efficiently for a considerable time, that the septic tanks are of doubtful efficiency, and that grave inconvenience is being caused to the people of the town; and whether he will cooperate with the local authority in taking such steps as may be necessary to put this matter to rights.

I have not received any representations regarding the condition of the Ballybay sewerage system. I have ascertained from the local authority that new parts for the mechanical distributor ordered in February, 1945, have not yet been delivered but that delivery is expected in the near future. I understand that the septic tanks are at present functioning efficiently and that no grave inconvenience is being caused to the people of the town. I might add that I shall be glad to give any possible assistance that the local authority may require in the matter.
