Vol. 104 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Game Protection and Gundog Federation.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he has given official approval to the constitution of the National Game Protection and Gundog Federation.

I made an Order on the 18th October, 1946, declaring the National Game Protection and Gundog Federation to be a recognised association for the purpose of Section 15 of the Game Preservation Act, 1930. This Order, however, does not imply any formal approval of the constitution of the federation.

I might mention that Section 15 authorises the Minister for Justice to recognise any association which is formed for the promotion of the preservation of game or for the promotion or improvement of the breeding or training of dogs used in the pursuit of game. The only benefits conferred by recognition are certain privileges in connection with prosecutions for trespass in pursuit of game on lands preserved by the association. 57 associations have been recognised under Section 15.
