Vol. 104 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Development of Caherciveen Bogs.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that there are bogs in the Caherciveen area suitable for machine development; if he will state if Bord na Móna have yet made a detailed survey of these bogs; and if not, if he will state the reasons for the delay in having this survey made.

Bord na Móna has already in hands a very extensive bog survey programme and preference is being given to areas which, on the basis of preliminary investigation, appear to offer the best possibilities for economic development on a large scale.

The Caherciveen bogs have been listed for survey, but it is unlikely that the work can be completed for some considerable time.
