Vol. 104 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allocation of Seed Oats.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether, in view of the fact that County Leitrim is to a great extent dependent on other counties for supplies of seed oats, he will arrange for an allocation of seed oats, at a reduced price, to County Leitrim this year as in other years.

It has not been found possible this season to secure in this country the supplies of suitable seed oats required to meet the usual distribution in the congested districts. The possibility of obtaining a quantity of suitable seed oats from Great Britain is being explored and if this becomes available a portion will be reserved for distribution in County Leitrim and elsewhere in the areas mentioned.
