Vol. 107 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Women's and Children's Footwear.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the serious shortage of women's and children's footwear in the lower-price ranges; and if he will examine the matter, with a view to arranging for an early improvement in this position.

While total production of women's and children's footwear of the cheaper grades is less than current demand, I have no evidence of a serious shortage.

Is the Minister aware that the majority of country children are going to school in their bare feet?

The production of women's and children's shoes is equal to pre-war production.
