Vol. 111 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donnycarney Residents' Position.

Mr. A. Byrne

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether an application has been received in his Department from the Dublin Corporation to include the Donnycarney scheme within the city limits so that persons transferred there will not suffer a reduction in national health insurance benefits, widows' and orphans' benefits and tuberculosis benefits; and, if so, whether it is proposed to accede to the corporation's application.

A petition from the Dublin Corporation to have the Donnycarney area included in the city has been received, and is under consideration. The consideration of the petition will involve the holding of a local inquiry. An Order for the extension of a borough is provisional and becomes effective only when confirmed by the Oireachtas.
