Vol. 112 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin House-Building Programme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the estimated number of houses which the Dublin County Council proposes to build in or near the following places during the coming year: Artane, Oldtown, Garristown, Ballymadun, Naul, Portmarnock, Balscadden, Rowlestown, Boot Inn, St. Margaret's, Cloghran and Kilsallaghan.

The Dublin County Council propose to commence the erection of 28 cottages in the Artane-Coolock area, 16 in the Blanchardstown-Cloghran area, and three in the Oldtown-Ballyboghill area in the immediate future. The sites for these schemes have been acquired and development work is in progress on the Coolock site.

With regard to the other areas mentioned, it is not possible to give an accurate forecast at the moment as to the number of cottages that will be built during the coming year, since this will depend in large measure on the success or otherwise of negotiations which have been entered into for the acquisition of sites in these areas.

In the case of the Boot Inn area, which adjoins Collinstown Airport, the need for cottages must be met by building outside the radius of two and a half miles from the airport to conform to the requirements of the Department of Industry and Commerce.
