Vol. 112 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grants for Cleaning Rivers.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is prepared to provide grants for the cleaning of the two rivers flowing through Shragh bog into the Atlantic, with a view to relieving unemployment in that important turf area and also to enable producers to get their turf out of that large lowlying bog.

I assume that the rivers referred to are the Creegh and Doonbeg (Cooraclare).

The extent of the work involved in cleaning these rivers, and the estimated cost, place both proposals outside the scope of the minor schemes administered by the Special Employment Schemes Office.
