Vol. 113 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kilkenny County Council Road Workers.

asked the Minister for Local Government if a scheme in regard to payment of "broken time" to road workers has been submitted to his Department by the Kilkenny County Council; and, if so, from what date he proposes to sanction its operation.

The scheme referred to in the question has been before my Department for some time. A decision on the particular proposals contained in it was deferred, pending receipt of particulars of the practice prevailing in other counties. Following an analysis of the position revealed by the replies it is proposed to make a recommendation to all local authorities with a view to the adoption generally of the simplest and most uniform practice that can be devised. I hope to be in a position to issue this recommendation at an early date.
