Vol. 113 No. 2

Written Answer. - County Offaly Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that the Land Commission has been requested on many occasions to acquire the Fawcett estate known as "Killeg lands" and also the residential part of this estate in the district of Walsh Island, Geashill, Offaly, the late owner having died recently leaving no immediate next of kin; that congestion exists in the neighbourhood; that the estate has been, in part, con-acred to some of the local congests in recent years; and, if so, whether he will expedite proceedings for its acquisition and allotment and the rearrangement of holdings in this area.

The lands in question appear to be those on the estate of the late Miss M. Fawcett at Killeg and Raheenakeeran. The question of the acquisition of the lands of Killeg is under consideration, but the Land Commission are not at present in a position to state if or when they will acquire these lands. The Deputy's representations regarding the Raheenakeeran lands have been noted.
