Vol. 113 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages of Sanatorium Workers.

asked the Minister for Health if he is now prepared to sanction the payment to those engaged on the works of the proposed regional sanatorium at Merlin Park, Galway, of rates of wages similar to those paid in Galway City.

Negotiations are in progress and I hope that an early resumption of work will be secured.

Can the Minister tell us if it will take long to settle this strike? Can he give any indication at all as to when it will be settled?

The settlement, of course, depends on two parties. It is hoped that an early settlement will be arrived at.

Is the Minister aware that the other builders in the area are paying rates similar to Galway city?

There is every hope and indication of an early settlement.
