Workmen's Compensation (Amendment) Bill, 1948—Statement by Chair.

I wish to point out to the House that I was under a complete misapprehension yesterday as to the conditions and circumstances under which the Minister for Social Welfare was speaking. I regret that the closure, which prevented certain members from speaking, occurred because I was under a complete misapprehension in regard to the matter.

I wish to give notice that I intend raising the matters I asked to have raised yesterday, on the adjournment to-night.

May I make a comment in regard to yesterday's debate?

I am not blaming the Minister——

If the Chair desires I am willing to have the whole matter reopened.

It cannot be done.

I want it to go on record that I am willing to do so, if required.

I am not making any charge or insinuation against the Minister. It was a misunderstanding on my part.
