Vol. 114 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Condition of County Kerry Roads.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the appalling condition of the public roads on Valentia Island and in the Portmagee area, County Kerry, and of the fact that the unemployment position is very serious in these areas; and, if so, whether he will sanction the allocation of a special grant at the earliest possible date.

Under the Road Fund allocations for 1949/50, a free grant of £64,400 for the improvement of county roads has been made available to Kerry County Council. It is for the county council in the first instance to decide on the works to be selected for the grant.
