Vol. 118 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Boundary.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state what is the present position of the proposal to extend the Dublin City boundary and what effect such extension is calculated to have upon the existing services and rates in Dublin County.

On the 2nd June last the Dublin Corporation submitted a petition for a Provisional Order providing for an extension of the city boundary which would include within the city an area of approximately 11,000 acres.

I was subsequently informed that it was the intention of the Dublin County Council to oppose the Provisional Order, and in the hope that a measure of agreement on the proposals might be reached between the two bodies, I recommended them to appoint representatives to confer jointly on the matter. I understand that meetings, as recommended by me, have taken place, but I have not yet been informed of the result of the deliberations. I am not, therefore, in a position to answer the latter part of the question.
