Vol. 119 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Corporation Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if any sanction has been sought from or proposal made to his Department in connection with the erection of flats on the large open space at the rear of Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church and on the east side of Golden Lane at present utilised as a car park, and if, in view of the scarcity of such sites, he will recommend to the Dublin Corporation that flat dwellings should be speedily erected thereon.

No application for approval to plans for a scheme for the erection of flats on the site referred to has yet been made to me by the corporation. The appointment of a consultant architect to prepare plans for the erection of 59 flats at Whitefriar Street was sanctioned some time ago and it is understood that sketch plans have been prepared.
