Vol. 119 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Howth National Schools.

asked the Minister for Education if he will provide a grant for the repair and improvement of the national schools at Howth, County Dublin.

I assume that the Deputy refers to the boys' and girls' national schools and not to the infants' school, which is conducted in a separate building, and is, I understand, in good repair.

With the aid of a grant from the Department, works of repair were carried out to the boys' and girls' schools in November, 1948, to render them habitable pending the provision of new schools.

I understand that the existing boys' and girls' schools require to be replastered externally, but the expenditure which would be involved would hardly be warranted in view of the fact that it is proposed to replace these premises by a new building.
