Vol. 123 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Traffic Regulations.

asked the Minister for Local Government if his attention has been drawn to a newspaper report of a statement made by a Dublin District Court justice that something should be done about the awkward corner at the junction of the North Circular Road and Dorset Street, in view of the difficulty experienced by bus drivers in negotiating it, and whether he will, in the interests of public safety, recommend to Córas Iompair Éireann that the Nos. 12 and 22 buses should continue along the North Circular Road to the Five Lamps and thence by Seán MacDermott Street to O'Connell Street, and return by the same route, thereby avoiding the dangerous corner.

I have seen a newspaper report of a statement made in the Dublin Circuit Court in regard to the corner referred to in the Deputy's question. It is not a function of mine to recommend the alteration of bus routes. I will, however, have the Deputy's suggestions conveyed to Córas Iompair Éireann. The Minister for Industry and Commerce would also be concerned under the Road Transport Acts.
