Vol. 123 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Milk Supplies.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that a strike as from 1st January, 1951, is threatened by Cork milk distributors; and, if so, if he will indicate what steps he proposes to take to ensure an adequate supply of milk at a reasonable price to the public of Cork as from that date.

In the event of the Cork milk supply failing, the Cork District Milk Board will, no doubt, make every effort to provide consumers with alternative supplies.

Will the Minister ensure that the consuming public of Cork will not be burdened with a further increase on the already high price of milk?

I do not know that I can usefully add anything to the reply I have given.

I do not think that we should be guided by that kind of reply at all, because I think the distributors are not getting justice for the labour involved.

I would be glad if the Deputies had a consultation amongst themselves.
