Vol. 124 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Baltinglass Garda Síochána.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the number of officers and men of the Garda Síochána drafted into Baltinglass on the 11th December, 1950, the cost of transport of this force to and from Baltinglass, and the amount paid in respect of subsistence; further, if he will state the number of the additional force stationed in Baltinglass, the period covered by their stay and the cost of maintenance and transport for this additional force.

I am not prepared to give detailed information in regard to Garda arrangements for any particular occasion, but I am prepared to give information as to the cost of the arrangements in this particular case, which I am sure is what the Deputy wants. The cost was:—

Is the Minister aware that the figures he has given there cover only a small portion of the cost of the attempt to deprive an honest worker of her employment and flout the opinion of the parish priest?

That does not arise.

Would the Minister give some indication to the House as to the estimate of the cost of meeting malicious injury claims?

Mr. Murphy

And damage to telegraph poles.

And damage to the prestige of the country.

That does not arise.

I would suggest that Deputy Cogan should raise the matter on the motion for the Adjournment.
