Vol. 124 No. 6

Question on Adjournment.

I am inclined to accept Deputy MacEntee's request that certain matters be taken on the Adjournment. A difficulty has arisen, however. The Deputy has asked permission to raise the subject matter of two questions addressed to different Ministers. Each Minister is entitled to ten minutes to reply. If you take 20 minutes away from the half hour allowed, the Deputy would not have much opportunity. Apart from that, the Deputy should decide which question he wants to raise.

With your permission, Sir, I propose to raise the subject matter of Question No. 7 on the Adjournment in order to give the Minister for Social Welfare ten minutes to hang himself.

The Deputy can give his reasons then. The subject matter of Question No. 7 will be taken on the Adjournment.
