Vol. 127 No. 1

Business of Dáil.

There are 276 questions on the Order Paper for oral answer. Is it proposed to deal with all these questions to-day?

If it is the wish of the House to have the questions that have been tabled answered to-day, the Government is prepared to give time to complete them.

Could we get any indication from the Tánaiste as to what other business it is proposed to proceed with to-day?

Apart from the various Bills which are being introduced, it is proposed to take items 13 and 14, that is to say, the Local Government (Remission of Rates) (No. 2) Bill, 1951, and the Seeds and Fertilisers Supply Bill, 1951. The Government is agreeable to the rest of the time being allocated to Private Deputies' Business.

So far as I am concerned, I object to the course suggested. I think that questions might get an extra hour and that the balance of the questions should be adjourned to the next sitting day. There are a number of important items to be discussed by the House before the conclusion of the session.

Perhaps we could agree that questions should go on until 5 o'clock and when we reach that hour, the matter could be raised again.

Certainly; whatever Deputies desire.
