Vol. 127 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shooting of Escaped Lioness.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the number of shots discharged by members of the Garda Síochána in the operations against an escaped lioness at Fairview on Sunday, 11th November, 1951, and if he will say what firearms training has been given within the past year to the Garda personnel who discharged firearms on the occasion.

Mr. Boland

Six shots were fired by two members of the Garda who had undergone a refresher course in the firing and use of firearms earlier in the year.

Is the Minister aware of the fact that the Deputy who has asked the question, Deputy Cowan, was about to address his constituents at Fairview on the evening the lioness paraded there?
