Vol. 132 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Division of Leitrim Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in regard to the lands of Tullinwannia, Townylea, Drumkeerin, County Leitrim (a) the date upon which the Land Commission acquired the lands; (b) the number of acres so acquired; (c) whether the lands are let, and (d) when the lands will be divided.

The lands in question, comprising 17 acres, have not been acquired by the Land Commission, but are the subject of resumption proceedings. The letting or allotment of the lands cannot be considered pending the outcome of these proceedings.

Can the Minister state how long these proceedings have been on foot?

Due to difficulties with regard to the matter of title, there has been an amount of delay, but I think that no undue delay has resulted from any action or inaction on the part of my Department.

Can the Minister indicate how long the delay has been?

On the 29th August, 1950, the commissioners ruled that proceedings be instituted for the resumption of the holdings, and on the 29th August notice of intention to apply to the Appeals Tribunal for leave to resume was served on the solicitor for Wards of Court.
