Vol. 133 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tramore Reclamation Project.

asked the Minister for Agriculture what steps he proposes to take to implement the report of the Dutch engineering consultants on the marine marshland reclamation project at Tramore, under the land rehabilitation project.

Mr. Walsh

It is assumed that the area of marine marshland at Tramore, referred to in the Deputy's question, is that known as the "Back Strand", involving approximately 1,000 acres of coarse sand. The report of the consultants indicates that, because of the lack of organic material, they did not consider that it would be economical to reclaim this area. Further action in the matter is not, therefore, contemplated.
