Vol. 134 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Wall—Erection of Garda Station.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that there is a widespread demand in the North Wall-East Wall area for a Garda station, and if he will arrange to have a station established in that area as soon as possible.

Mr. Boland

It is not proposed to establish a Garda station in the area to which the Deputy refers. The Garda authorities are satisfied that, when the recruits who will shortly reach the depot for training become available for duty in the Dublin Metropolitan Division, the area can be adequately policed from existing stations in the "C" district.

Does that apply to certain other districts nearer home?

Mr. Boland

If there is no provocation there will be no violence.

Does the Minister for Justice seriously propose to base police policy on that pious assumption?

Mr. Boland

Let there be peace.

The peace of death.
