Vol. 134 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gaeltacht and Congested Districts Roads Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will make available under the Gaeltacht and congested districts road scheme, grants for the following roads: Sneem to Moll's Gap, Lake View cross to Kate Kearney's cottage, Lauragh to Healy Pass, Killarney-Sneem road to Ballaughasheen Pass.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will arrange that grants be made available from the Gaeltacht and congested districts roads scheme for (1) the road from Waterville to Sneem; (2) the road from Caragh Lake through Cromane to Glencar; (3) the road from the new chapel, Waterville, to Ballaughasheen Pass; (4) the completion of the steamrolling of road from Portmagee across the hill through Coom-an-aspig to the Glen to Ballinskelligs, and (5) the steamrolling of road from Ballinskelligs to Waterville.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will arrange that grants be made available out of the Gaeltacht and congested area road fund for the following roads in north Kerry: Castlemaine-Annascaul main road; the Ballyheigue round Kerry Head main road, and the Dingle-Castlegregory round Cannon Head road.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate what steps he proposes to take to have the roads in the congested districts of West Cork leading to many beauty spots included in the special road plan for the congested areas.

I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take questions numbered 54 to 57 together. It is hoped very shortly to communicate with the county councils concerned in regard to the scheme for the improvement of tourist roads in the Gaeltacht and the congested areas, which will be carried out in consultation with the Parliamentary Secretary to the Government. It would be premature to indicate at this stage the particular works which will be carried out.
