Vol. 143 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Personnel—Separation from Families.

asked the Minister for Defence if his Department has succeeded in reducing to any considerableextent the incidence of separation of officers, N.C.O.s and men from their families due to location of duties.

At the present time, approximately 8 per cent. of the total number of married soldiers on the strength of the forces are stationed away from their homes.

Proposals for the erection of married quarters in several of the larger military centres throughout the country are under consideration at present, and it is anticipated that when these quarters are erected, the position will be considerably improved.
