Vol. 143 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork School.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state the reasons for the long delay in building the school at Kilmurry, County Cork, and if he will take steps to ensure that work will be started on this project without further delay.

A grant has been sanctioned by my Department towards the cost of the erection of a new school to replace the present Kilmurry National School, County Cork. The arrangements for theerection of the new building are in the hands of the Commissioners of Public Works. Working drawings and specifications have been completed and bills of quantities are at present being prepared with a view to the invitation of tenders. Steps are being taken to have the case expedited as far as possible.

Owing to certain difficulties which arose there was unavoidable delay in the making of the arrangements which were a necessary preliminary to the sanction of a grant by my Department.

Can the Minister say when the manager will be authorised to advertise for tenders?

When the bills of quantities are ready.

Has the Minister any idea when that will be?

They are being prepared.
