Vol. 144 No. 6

Written Answers. - Child Welfare Centres and Clinics.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state (a) the total number of child welfare centres and child welfare clinics in the country and (b) the number of each in the Cities of Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway.

The total number of child welfare centres administered by local authorities in the country is 44. The number of clinics held altogether in these centres averages about 70 per week. In addition, child welfare clinics are administered in Galway (weekly), Youghal (monthly) and Enniscorthy (twice monthly), by voluntary nursing organisations.

In regard to the County Boroughs of Dublin, Cork and Limerick and the City of Galway, the details requested are set out in a tabular statement, which, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose, with your permission, to circulate with the Official Report.
