Vol. 147 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio Eireann Short Story Competition.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will recommend to the Director of Broadcasting in regard to the recently advertised short story competition and future similar competitions (a) that the competitions be confined to writers who have not had their work published or broadcast hitherto, (b) that the works of Irish nationals only be considered, and (c) that the stories should have an Irish background.

It would not be practicable at this stage to alter the conditions already announced for the current Radio Eireann short story competition.

The conditions governing these competitions are a matter for the Director of Broadcasting, but I shall ask him to consider the Deputy's suggestions in connection with future competitions.
