Vol. 147 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grants for County Roads.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of his recent statement to the effect that he was requesting local authorities to pay more attention to county roads and less to main roads, he will have the grants for the repair of county roads increased.

In my most complete statement on this matter I said that out of any increase which it may be found practicable to make in 1955 in the grants to county councils from the Road Fund a greater allocation would be made for county road improvement works than for main road improvement works. I intend to adhere to the terms of that statement.
