Vol. 147 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission are aware that the Creed estate, Cloyne, which consists of some 360 acres, has been advertised for sale by public auction, and, if so, whether they propose to consider the propriety of acquiring it.

The Land Commission are having inquiries made regarding these lands. I understand that portion of them has been sold.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission propose to allot the Flavin estate, Pillmore, Youghal, in time for allottees to sow crops in the coming spring, and, if not, if he will request the commission to take immediate steps to let the estate in small lots for tillage purposes, so as to afford the large number of uneconomic holders and cottiers in the area an opportunity of getting essential conacre in reasonable proximity to their holdings this season.

The Land Commission have not yet obtained possession of this estate but there is every likelihood that they will have it by next spring. It may then be possible to allot the lands forthwith; if not, the suggestion regarding lettings in small lots will be fully considered.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the Molloy estate, Farney Castle, Thurles, County Tipperary, and, if so, with what result.

Proceedings are in progress for the acquisition of this estate but the owner has lodged an objection to acquisition which is listed for hearing.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the lands of Mr. James Patterson, Caltra, Owenbeg, County Sligo, for division among uneconomic landholders in the area, and, if so, with what result.

The Land Commission are having inquiries made about this holding.
