Vol. 148 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Road.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the necessity for steamrolling the road from Anaghar bridge to the Glen and Rathkerin, Ballinskelligs, County Kerry, which is an important tourist road and serves 400 farmers, and, if so, if he will allocate a grant for this purpose.

The selection and execution of the road works to be carried out in any year out of appropriate grants rests with the local authorities concerned. The grants which can be made available to the Kerry County Council for road works in the current financial year have already been allocated and applied to particular works.

The road mentioned by the Deputy has been included by the Kerry County Council in their five-year county road improvement plan, and it will be for them to decide when the road will be dealt with under that plan, which is being financed with the aid of the annual county road improvement grants from the Road Fund.
