Vol. 148 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supply of Army Boots.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the names of the firms which recently tendered for the supply of 15,000 pairs of boots to the National Army, the tendered price submitted by each firm and the name of the firm to which the contract was given.

Nine firms tendered for the supply of these boots, and a contract was placed with Birr Shoes, Ltd., Birr, County Offaly.

It would be contrary to established practice to disclose the names of firms who tendered in a particular competition or the prices quoted by them. I regret, therefore, that I cannot give the information asked for on these points.
