Vol. 149 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce when the rural electrification scheme will commence in the areas of Liscannor, Kilshanny and Doolin, County Clare.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the Liscannor area, which includes Kilshanny and part of Doolin, has been considered for selection by the board on a number of occasions but has not so far been selected as the returns for the area have not compared favourably with those of other areas still awaiting development in the board's Limerick district. The area will be reconsidered by the board at intervals and the decision of the board will depend on how the returns for the area compare with those of other areas awaiting development at the time.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when the E.S.B. propose to extend rural electrification to the Grange Con, Stratford-on-Slaney and Tuckmill areas, County Wicklow.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the Stratford area, County Wicklow, which includes Grange Con and Tuckmill, has been selected for development under the rural electrification scheme and that it is hoped to commence work in the area in the early summer.
