Vol. 150 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Galway P.O. Services.

Seán Mac Eochagáin

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether it is proposed to provide a daily postal delivery service for every townland in West Galway, and, if so, when; and whether such service will entail the employment of additional postmen, or the employment of the currently employed postmen on overtime.

The provision of a daily postal delivery throughout West Galway will be considered as part of a general reorganisation of postal services in the Galway head office district which is due to be undertaken this year. I cannot say at this stage when the revision is likely to be implemented nor can I indicate, until the necessary survey of the area has been carried out, what the effects on the staff in the West Galway area are likely to be.
