Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Cables.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the number of miles of telephone cable which were laid on (a) co-axial circuits, and (b) other trunk circuits in each calendar year from, and including, 1950; further, the number of miles of cable which it is proposed to lay in the current year.

The information sought by the Deputy is in the form of a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the official report.

NOTES.

(1) These figures are net—allowance being made for cessation of superseded circuits.

(2) Figures are for internal trunk routes, i.e., they do not include circuits provided in cross-Channel cables.
