Vol. 157 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Water Supply and Sewerage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that a water supply scheme is urgently needed for the villages of Ballyquin and Cappagh in the Castlegregory district, County Kerry, whether he has received proposals in the matter, and what is the present position.

I am aware of the necessity for a piped water supply in the villages of Ballyquin and Cappagh. The carrying out of a scheme has been sanctioned but difficulty in acquiring the necessary lands has delayed commencement of the project.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has sanctioned proposals in connection with the provision of a water and sewerage scheme for the village of Annascaul, County Kerry, and what is the present position.

The Annascaul water supply scheme has been completed for some time.

The latest date for receipt of tenders for the sewerage scheme was 19th March, 1956. No proposal for acceptance of a tender has yet been submitted by the sanitary authority.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether, in view of the urgent need for carrying through the proposed water supply scheme for Milltown, County Kerry, he will expedite sanction of the tenders which have been submitted to him.

The proposal submitted a week ago by Kerry County Council for the acceptance of a tender for this scheme is being examined, and a decision will issue as soon as possible.
