asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in respect of each of the years 1951 to 1956, inclusive, (a) the total amount due to depositors in (i) the Post Office Savings Bank, and (ii) the Trustees Savings Banks; and (b) the percentage of the total savings invested in British Government securities and in Irish securities, respectively.

The information requested by the Deputy for the years 1951 to 1955, inclusive, is given in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to have circulated with the Official Report. The information as regards 1956 is not yet available as the accounts of the Post Office Savings Bank and the Trustees Savings Banks relate to years ending 31st December and 20th November, respectively.
